Hammond Dairy was founded in 1976 by Dr. David Hammond, a practicing veterinarian and farmer in Dutchess County. Dr. Hammond and his two daughters produce all natural, healthy and delicious yogurt. They do not add any hormones, antibiotics, or artificial additives, and they also do not homogenize* the milk. Without homogenization, the yogurt can be more easily digested, and it contains more calcium for strong bones! The Hammonds own a herd of 200 black and white Holstein cows and treat them like family. Each cow has her own name, her own place on the farm, and are allowed to range on the farmâs green pastures as often as they please. *What is homogenization? Homogenization is a treatment that uses pressure to break up the fat particles to make the milk the same consistency throughout.
